The Darjeeling Diocese is composed of the two hill sub-divisions Darjeeling, Kurseong of Darjeeling District, the District of Kalimpong, the State of Sikkim and the Kingdom of Bhutan. Anugyalaya Darjeeling Diocese Social Service Society is the development apostolate arm of the Darjeeling Diocese. Till 1997, the Siliguri sub-division was a part of the Darjeeling Diocese. The bifurcation of Darjeeling Diocese into Bagdogra and Darjeeling dioceses involved territorial division with Siliguri sub-division under the Bagdogra Diocese. Seva Kendra, the Diocesan Social Service Centre of the Darjeeling Diocese, situated in Siliguri functioned as the agency responsible for the development apostolate for a couple of years even after the bifurcation. The division was complete once Anugyalaya Darjeeling Diocese Social Service Society was registered on the 13th of February, 2001 under the Societies Registration Act XXVI 1961, West Bengal with Registration Number S/1L/2166. Seva Kendra, Siliguri was retained by the Bagdogra Diocese.

Anugyalaya Darjeeling Diocese Social Service Society is a social wing of the Roman Catholic Diocese working in different parts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts in West Bengal and in the State of Sikkim. The strategic and thematic themes of intervention are Integrated Natural Resource Management, Livelihood, Child Rights, Community Health and Disaster Risk Reduction with Climate Change as a cross-cutting issue.

The Diocese of Darjeeling is a society where every person lives with dignity, love, justice and peace.

To uphold the rights of all persons of Bhutan, Darjeeling and Sikkim through a process of people’s participation, and to live in harmony with nature​​
